Remove parking minimums

Parking minimums force businesses and housing developers to include parking that their projects may not need. These minimums were introduced into our zoning code specifically to prevent density and make multi-family dwellings less economical to build. This decreases the supply of multi-family units, and drives up rents.

Parking minimums also make building Granny Flats (Accessor Dwelling Units or ADUs) more expensive and significantly limits their size on smaller lots.

We believe that parking requirements should be left up to the developer and home owner, and that especially in a place with three major public transit lines running through it, our building code should not be encouraging car use. It's unsustainable and climate unfriendly.
